I can remember....

I can remember before I had my kiddos I had time to make homemade Christmas cards, fuss with all the wrapping on each and every present, bake loads of Christmas goodies and then one day we had kids and guess what I hardly have time to get dinner cooked! It is amazing to me how fast the days go by and when I do get a moment to myself I really just want to sit down kick my feet up and relax! Not that it happens often! You know I let this stress me out at first, but I know these years will pass all too fast so for now forget the baking, the cute cards, and all the fancy wrapping. I am going to seize the moment and enjoy each and every one of them. Jeremy and I decided the other night that we can have fancy homemade sugar cookies when our kids are grown! Happy Holidays!

Gingivostomatitis ever heard of it?.....it's miserable!

Well Carter has had a rough last 7 days. We found out last Saturday that he had the chicken pox.. It was absolutely miserable. The picture above is of him watching Barney(aka Bawkey!), but wanting to go somewhere(hence the shoes!). You can see where I marked his chicken pox with a black sharpie, so that I could make sure that is what it really was! As you can see from the picture they were definitely multiplying! However in the midst of that he began to get very fussy and nothing would settle him down. By Monday night he was running a temp of about 103 and it has stuck all week long. On Friday we went back to the dr to try and figure out why he is constantly screaming and running the high fever. I had noticed a few places in his mouth, but in the beginning attributed them to the chicken pox however when we laid him down and the pediatrician and I looked in his mouth, there were sores everywhere. I don't mean little small sores I mean big pussy sores that look like the worst things I have ever seen. Apparently they are on his mouth, tongue, gums, tonsils, etc. He is absolutely miserable and is still crying constantly. He doesn't want to eat or drink anything, so we are having to really push liquids so that he doesn't get dehydrated. I can honestly say that this is the absolute worst thing he has ever had. I think I would rather him have the flu, ear infection, strep throat all at the same time instead of this. Everything he puts in his mouth hurts and/or burns. There is no way to give him any relief at all. We have probably gotten 2 hours of sleep in the past 3 days. When we left the pediatrician's office yesterday I just sat in my car and cried. I mean it breaks my heart to see all those sores in his mouth because now it is so clear how miserable he truly is. Luckily my mom was able to come back last night, she intended to give me some relief however he wants nothing to do with anyone except his momma. However just some company at night when he is screaming bloody murder is help.
Ian is gone this weekend with his Papaw and Tata to St. Louis. I am so glad because it has been miserable here and he deserves to get away and have some fun. Last I heard he was sitting in Busch Stadium rooting on the Cardinals. Unfortunately they lost, but he is still having a blast! Tomorrow he is planning to go up in the arch and he is so excited!
We are going to see how Carter is tomorrow. If he is still running a high fever and screaming we are thinking we may have to take him to the emergency room to get him more relief than we can give him.

I'm getting there!

Ok I have made some progress! I will try to add new pictures tomorrow. I will be home for the next 2 or 3 days because Carter has the chicken pox, so needless to say I should be able to get my blog updated! I still can't believe he has managed to get the chicken pox, but I swear if that boy looks at a germ, he manages to pick up and get whatever it is. So we are doing lots of oatmeal baths and spreading calamine all over his spots. Luckily it is a 3 day weekend, so I am thankful for that! I promise to try to update my pictures tomorrow. I am just happy my blog looks prettier!!!

To blog or not to blog????

Ok I am still not doing great at this blogging thing! I have tried and tried! But I decided today after finding some great friends of mine that have blogs I am going to give it another go. My first priority is going to be figuring out how to update my blog with a cuter skin. I have no idea but I am going to give it a go tomorrow. Jeremy and Ian are going 4 wheeling tomorrow, so hopefully I can get Carter to take a good nap. So bear with me I am going to try......AGAIN!!!!

Surprise I updated my blog!

I know you are surprised to see that I updated my blog! Things have definitely been crazy in our house. Between Carter being sick, Ian playing sports, and of course working full time it doesn't leave me much time to relax on the computer. However in 10 days I will have 6 weeks off and I am SO excited! The boys and I had such a rough summer last year with Carter being born, getting sick, losing Simon, and many other crazy things we had happen. So this summer is our summer to have FUN, RELAX, and enjoy each other. Jeremy is working a new job now at Kent Dobbs Hyundai selling cars and he loves it. He will have Thursdays and Sundays off with us so that will be nice. On the days Jeremy works, the boys and I are going to veg out at home, take walks, go to the park, library, $1 movies, etc. I am really looking forward to it. Just a summer of fun! So in 10 days our luxurious summer will begin and my first born baby will complete his first year of school. No longer a kindergartner.....he will be getting ready to be a "big" first grader. Hard for me to believe. Of course as the year winds down I also have to say goodbye to my wonderful class of kindergartners and get ready to prepare for a new crew. So bring on good times....bring on summer!

Being Momma is not always easy

Well as most of you know we have had a terrible time with illness in 2007 and unfortunately 2008 is not off to a great start. Carter has had 5 ear infections within 8 weeks. He has been so sick and snotty the poor little guy does not even remember being healthy. Unfortunately it has also affected his sleep he wakes up all through the night and is terribly fussy and I mean can you blame him I know his ears are hurting terribly. Well today we went and saw the ear nose and throat doctor and we are now scheduled for surgery on January 11 to get tubes put in his ears. He also has a condition they call glue ear which means his ears are full of thick puss that is the consistency of glue, so they will drain all that out before placing the tubes in his ears. It makes me so nervous knowing that he will have to be put under anesthesia but I want him regain a normal life with normal hearing. At this time he has not lost any hearing and I am so thankful for that. So 5 ear infections, 10 antibiotics, 2 steroids, 2 bottles of ear drops, many sleepless nights, and a million breathing treatments later we are headed to get tubes in our ears!
